The Journey

5 days · Trekking

The Marangu Route is the most popular and accessible route up Kilimanjaro, often called the 'Coca-Cola Route'. It is the only route with permanent sleeping huts, and ascent and descent follow the same trail through rainforest, moorland and the lunar desert of the Saddle. Being the shortest option it allows less time to acclimatize and has a lower summit success rate than longer routes, so the 6-day version is recommended where possible.
