The Journey

6 days · Trekking

The Machame Route, also called the Whiskey Route, is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. It climbs through magnificent forest to the moorland and the Shira Plateau, then traverses beneath the glaciated cliffs of the Southern Ice Fields to join the Barafu route to the summit. The 'climb high, sleep low' profile via Lava Tower aids acclimatization, and the 7-day version gives an even better chance of success.
